about us

"The Ayrshire WASPI Group has been campaigning since 2017 for justice for 1950s born women across Ayrshire.

Prior to the Covid pandemic we met regularly every couple of months in Kilmarnock and also had three local subgroups which also got together for more informal catch-up time.  They usually met in Ardrossan. Kilmarnock and Ayr.  This also made it easier for those who found it harder to travel to Kilmarnock or don’t like larger meetings.

We have had great support from the four MPs who represent our area, since 2019, and they have all attended our main meetings as well as the more local ones.  We have also had support from many of the local MSPs and councillors.

Over the years, many of the group members have attended rallies, protests and marches both in Scotland and London and done extensive leafleting at many locations throughout Ayrshire

As a group, Ayrshire members have put a lot of work into developing papers which highlight the wider impact of the loss of their State Pensions.  Our members responded to a survey asking for details of that and clearly showed how widespread this impact is - including on parents, children, grandchildren, local shops and services, etc.
